| My recent project project began as a virtual 3-D model of a jet crashed into a home. The software allowed me to view the crash from a number of different angles, the images of which became the basis for black and white images which were then laser cut into vinyl and assembled on black plexi. With this work I have been interested in exploring ideas of the absurd as they pertain to our vain efforts to control and order our world. The 3-D virtual space seems to me to elude full understanding, in taking the 3-D model and reducing it to a 2-D black and white digital image which then becomes the physical material of vinyl I had in mind this process of a virtual space becoming a physical image/object and thus real and more understandable. |
